Giving

Churches rely on the generosity of their congregations and their communities to support their mission and ministry.

The bible teaches us to give regular “tithes and offerings to the Lord” (Nehemiah 10: 31-39 and Malachi 3: 10-12)

We encourage anyone who attends events (either online or in person) at the Parish of Basingstoke Down regularly to consider giving, no matter how small or large, at a level that’s affordable.

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure, for God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” (2 Corinthians 9: 7)

In Church Giving

Cash and Envelope Scheme

We continue to take cash and use the envelope scheme. You can pick up numbered (weekly) envelopes, with your unique member number printed on, from church. They can be placed in the basket at the back of church. The amount of your gift is known only to you, the person who keeps the records and God.

Contactless Giving

This is now available for giving at both churches.

Gift Aid

Gift Aid is the Government scheme for increasing the value of gifts made to charities. It means that HMRC will add 25 pence to every pound donated by a tax giver. If you give via PGS, you can sign up to Gift Aid within the scheme. However, if you give in any other way, please let us know if you want to sign up. (You will need to ensure you pay enough tax to cover the Gift Aid for your church giving and other charitable giving throughout the year.)

Legacies

If you would like to find out more about leaving a legacy to the parish in your will, further information can be found on The Church of England legacy page.

We whole-heartedly recognise there are other important and valuable ways to give to the work of the church such as with our time and talents.

If you would like further information, have any questions or need to discuss anything in complete confidence regarding any giving, please contact the Parish Office using our Contact Form or by telephoning 01256 840502.
