From Basingstoke Foodbank – An urgent invite to the churches in the Basingstoke region….new volunteer Debt Advisers needed!  You’re invited to attend an informal information meeting to find out more…

Money Lifeline https://www.moneylifeline.org/ will close if new volunteer Debt Advisers are not recruited to train very soon. 

As a Foodbank, we think the world of this Christian charity! Over the years Money Lifeline has supported hundreds of people through to freedom from debt.  With debt being a frequent reason for people needing to use Foodbanks throughout the UK, we wanted to do what we could to help Money Lifeline.

So, we have offered to facilitate a meeting for anyone interested in hearing how someone might become a Volunteer Debt Adviser.

Money Lifeline Debt Advisers work in pairs and are responsible for giving debt and budgeting advice, offering practical assistance to help people implement an appropriate debt solution. A regular commitment of one or more sessions of 3-4 hours weekly would be required. If you’re interested, it is possible to visit and see the work in practice by shadowing a member of the team.

Money Lifeline has been operating in Basingstoke for 18 years and is affiliated to the national charity ‘Community Money Advice’ (CMA).  They support centres across the country with training, mentoring, bespoke software and an adviceline. CMA will be present to talk about training given, and on-going support offered to new, and experienced advisers.

Buckskin Church, Chiltern Way, Basingstoke, RG22 5BB

7.30pm – 9pm.  Free parking on site.  Teas & coffees will be served from 7.15pm!
